About Us

At Stain, we only make custom and limited edition sarees. At our home studio in Shillong,  we handcraft and hand dye our designs. Our textiles are hand picked and sourced during our travels in small batches. We make one saree at a time; a process that can take from days to weeks to complete. We started Stain because we love making sarees with our own hands. Our process is designed to preserve that joy.

When Stain started as small experiment four years ago, our founder, Mrs. Sanchoita Sen was 75 years old. It was her dream and passion that created Stain, driven by a small all women team comprising of Chandra Sen, her co-collaborator and saree maker daughter in law and her artist daughter Mahua Sen.
